A Message from the President

Dear BHS Members and Friends,

Oh, the places, people, and events we’ve studied this past semester! From Sherlock Holmes’s London, to nineteenth century France, to the Mayan cities of Central America, BHS covered miles of terrain and pondered a multitude of ideas without leaving Beacon Hill. I hope you enjoyed these courses, and after a holiday break, you will return to BHS, ready for more.

The spring 2010 semester promises to be just as outstanding with an array of 20 courses, thanks to the great execution of the Curriculum Committee. Please reserve Thursday evening, April 29, 2010, to celebrate Beacon Hill

Seminar’s 10th anniversary with The Party for a Decade. Details are on the inside back cover of the catalogue, and we will keep you up to date on celebration developments throughout the semester.

If you haven’t experienced a semester of Beacon Hill Seminars, we encourage you to sign up and see what you’ve been missing. Beacon Hill Seminars is a membership organization that welcomes adult learners of any age from anywhere. We invite newcomers and BHS members alike to our Kick Off Event for Spring 2010, which will be held on January 4 at 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Church of the Advent’s Moseley Hall.

All members received a letter from me in May announcing new BHS Enrollment Procedures. Please review them more fully on page 6 of this catalogue. We hope that in no time at all, you will come to enjoy the freedom this process gives you to check out all offerings, coordinate class schedules with fellow classmates and friends, and enjoy BHS membership without the anxiety of our previous first-come, first-served race to enroll.

To all our members, group leaders, and supporters, thank you for making our adventures in learning so extraordinary. I look forward to seeing you on January 4.

Sincerely,
Sharon Malt, President
